Magpie Monthly: Vol. 3
The Nadia Hassan Starter Pack
I had so much fun creating my take on the No AI Starter Pack trend. One could argue that artists gleefully packaging ourselves up as literal commodities is a darkly comic moment in the history of the "personal brand." Because it is. And there may be a nugget of irony to this kind of self-undermining being deployed in protest of AI. Despite all that, I'm not sorry...this trend was too irresistible not to participate.
2025 Licensing Expo
In a few short weeks, three brand new collections of my art will be headed to Las Vegas for the 2025 Licensing Expo. Here is a tiny taste of what I have been busily working on since January, from my very silly Haute Dogs collection.
Sneaky Peeky
I'm wrapping up a super-fun, extra-cute brand design project, but I can't share it just yet. Keep an eye out for the full brand reveal next month! Until then, here are a few first round sketches that did not make the cut.
Sketchbook Silliness
Here's a fun page from my sketchbook in case you need something silly to look at. I painted these shapes way back in February, and just now got around to adding their faces. Good things take time ;)
What I’m Reading
Here are two of my favorite reads from April. Connect with me on Goodreads to see the rest.
HEARTWOOD
by Amity Gaige
An experienced Appalachian Trail hiker goes missing in this multi-POV wilderness suspense novel that is so much more than the sum of its parts. Dazzling prose, propulsive storytelling, and complex characters combine in one of the most memorable books of 2025 so far.
A SEPARATION
by Katie Kitamura
A young woman, newly separated from her husband, agrees to search for him when he goes missing in Greece. That's the basic premise, but what makes this novel special is Kitamura's subtly breathtaking way with words, and the complex inner worlds of the protagonists she brings to life.
